M.I.A. Has A Patreon Now
Right now, M.I.A. is making a new album, her first since 2016's AIM. And while she's doing that, she's also joined the crowdfunding site Patreon to create some kind of a direct dialogue between herself and her fans. That Patreon has gone up online today. There are $5 and $10 tiers, and subscribers get access to things like short films, video diaries, livestreams, monthly Q&A sessions, and "random surprise content! It might be a song, a recipe, a manifesto, maybe I could help you with your homework, you guys could be my manager for a day, tell me what to do with my career, therapy sessions, dating advice, we'll see what happens." Talking to Rolling Stone, M.I.A. says, "I’ve tried all the other platforms and it’s like: this one is too mean and hateful, this one is too fake and self-obsessed, and this one just sells all your data to Cambridge Analytica… I want to get back to using the internet in a positive way; I don’t want to be an influencer. I want to be a truth dispenser." In her

Watch Michael Stipe Tell Stephen Colbert About His Favorite Radiohead Song And The Time He Told Trump To Shut Up At A Patti Smith Concert
Michael Stipe recently released his first two solo singles, "Your Capricious Soul" and "Drive To The Ocean." The R.E.M. singer also has a new photo book called Our Interference Times: A Visual Record combining digital and analog imagery. He sat for an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night to discuss all this and more. The subject of Donald Trump came up because he's been using R.E.M. songs at his rallies against the band's wishes. "It's a licensing problem and there's nothing we can do except respectfully request that they not use it," Stipe explained. This led to an anecdote about how Stipe once told Trump to shut up during a Patti Smith concert at Joe's Pub in NYC. There was also talk about how the climate change protest Extinction Rebellion inspired his return to music, the photo book's aim to exemplify the seemingly irreconcilable culture clash of our times, and Stipe's doctor's advice that he stop watching the news. Because Thom Yorke recently told Colbert

What's Ranbir Kapoor hiding behind that mask?
Ranbir Kapoor is one of the biggest stars of B-town. The actor has delivered several impressive performances back-to-back. This year too, he’s set to star in several awaited projects including Brahmastra and Shamshera. Ranbir is known to dive deep into his characters. The actor has been prepping for his next with Luv Ranjan, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor. The film, yet untitled, is surely creating a buzz among the audience. This morning we snapped RK at the airport as he came out in style and walked towards his ride amidst media frenzy. He was dressed in a coffee coloured pair of pants and a spotless white T-shirt, the actor looked uber cool. However, what caught our attention was that Ranbir chose to wear a mask so that probably his look for the film would not be revealed. That time alone will tell. Till then we wish him luck.

Aesop Rock – “Rogue Wave”
Last year, underground rap veteran Aesop Rock teamed up with Black Moth Super Rainbow synth-sludge producer Tobacco for the collaborative album Malibu Ken. And now, as he continues working on a full-length follow-up to 2016's solo LP The Impossible Kid, he's shared a new standalone single called "Rogue Wave." As he explains: "Rogue Wave" feels like a long journal entry to me — perhaps in the vein of "Hot Dogs" and "Klutz." I really enjoy skipping the hook entirely. It doesn't always work — but when it does it just feels right. To me, this song is a small boat lost at sea, rowing for hours, days, losing all track of time and direction — 360 degrees of nothing but ocean. I've been a little timid over the years to showcase my own drawings, probably because I've been out of practice, and also because people know me for my music. That said — I've been drawing a fair amount in recent years, and finally decided to collect a lot of the images together for a music video. My long time

Watch Martin Scorsese, Jonah Hill, & YBN Cordae’s Coca-Cola Energy Super Bowl Commercial
Are Super Bowl ads cinema? No, but that hasn't stopped Martin Scorsese from appearing in one. The legendary director stars alongside his fellow Hollywood elite Jonah Hill and newly minted rap star YBN Cordae in a new commercial for Coca-Cola Energy that will air during the big game this Sunday. Because corporations now share their Super Bowl spots ahead of time, it's viewable on YouTube now. As funny advertisements go, this one's pretty good. The premise: Marty's at a cartoonish party waiting for Hill to show up. Hill is at home feeling zonked. He considers flaking. He begins typing a message to Scorsese, leaving his buddy in limbo via suspense-laden iPhone ellipsis. The whole world watches to see whether Hill will stand Scorsese up — including Cordae, who pops in a couple times to egg Hill on because companies love to throw random collections of famous people together in their Super Bowl ads. (See: Coke rival Pepsi's ad from last year.) Only a few gulps of Coca-Cola energy — a new
